Liquidity and Risk Comparison
High-Yield Savings vs. Private Credit
A high-yield savings account and a private-credit investment are not substitutes. Savings is generally a liquid cash-management tool; private credit is an investment with borrower, collateral, illiquidity, fee, and loss risk.
Quick Answer
Use savings for liquidity and principal stability within applicable FDIC or NCUA insurance rules. Consider private credit only for capital that can tolerate limited liquidity, uncertain valuation, delayed distributions, and possible loss.
High-Yield Savings Accounts
Bank savings rates are variable. Eligible deposits may be insured up to applicable limits when ownership categories and institution requirements are satisfied. Review the institution, insurance status, balance limits, access rules, transfer times, and promotional conditions.
Private Credit
Private credit supplies capital to borrowers outside public bond markets. Results depend on underwriting, documentation, collateral, lien priority, borrower performance, servicing, defaults, recoveries, leverage, fees, valuation, and the manager’s execution. It is not a deposit and is not FDIC insured.
